To ensure the smooth implementation of the curriculum, both full-time and part-time students should be aware of the following:
Students must declare to the Program Secretariat, in a timely manner and always before the start of each semester, the elective Thematic Units they will attend. An elective Thematic Unit will only be offered if selected by a minimum number of students, as determined annually by the Program’s Coordinating Committee.
Teaching of the Thematic Units is delivered through a combination of distance learning and face-to-face instruction.
Face-to-face sessions are held at the premises of the Program and the Agricultural University of Athens and are limited to one weekend per month throughout the duration of the studies.
Emphasis is placed on synchronous distance learning, with scheduled online classes once a week (in the afternoon), as well as additional online classes (make-up sessions, revision lessons, exams, presentations, seminars).
Students are informed of class dates in advance, and participation is mandatory. In case of emergency, students may be absent from a course no more than twice per Thematic Unit.
Examinations for each Thematic Unit take place during and/or at the end of the semester. Evaluation may be in the form of written and/or oral exams and/or submission of assignments. Grading is on a scale of 1 to 10, with a minimum passing
grade of 6/10.
The final grade for each course is based on the examination method defined by the instructor at the beginning of the course. Re-examination to improve a grade is not permitted.
If a student fails, a re-examination is scheduled shortly after. Upon a second failure, the exam is conducted by a three-member committee of faculty members with expertise in the subject, appointed by the Program’s Interdepartmental Committee.
Upon a third failure, the student is automatically removed from the Program’s registry.
Students may retake exams in up to four (4) Thematic Units during their entire study period. Failing a fifth Thematic Unit results in automatic expulsion from the Program.
All regulations stated for the Full-Time Program also apply to the Part-Time Program.
