admission process

The admission process for new students begins with the publication of a call for applications, inviting interested prospective postgraduate students, within a specified timeframe, to submit an application to the Interdepartmental Postgraduate Program (IPP).

Applicants are required to submit the following documents:

  1. Application form (available from the Secretariat and the program’s website).
  2. One (1) passport-size photograph.
  3. A copy of the degree or a certificate confirming that the applicant has completed
all academic obligations. For foreign degrees, a recognition certificate from the
Hellenic National Academic Recognition and Information Center (DOATAP)
must also be submitted. In cases where undergraduate studies are not yet
completed, a declaration must be submitted listing all outstanding courses and any
    required thesis (where applicable).
  4. A copy of the detailed academic transcript.
  5. A detailed curriculum vitae.
  6. A photocopy of both sides of the identity card.
  7. Two letters of recommendation (including the name, title, position, address,
telephone number, and email of the referee). These letters should be from faculty
members of the applicant’s university. In the case of applicants with significant
professional experience, recommendation letters may come from professional
    supervisors.
  8. A copy of a diploma or certificate demonstrating knowledge of the English
language and possibly other foreign languages.
  9. Any additional documents that the applicant believes would assist the Evaluation
Committee in forming a more complete assessment.

Applications and supporting documents must be submitted or sent to the IPP Secretariat either in printed or electronic form.

The selection criteria for postgraduate students are:

  1. The undergraduate degree grade, which must be at least six (6). The applicants must have successfully completed all academic requirements for their degree before the beginning of the academic year and enrollment in the program (weight: 25%). Foreign degrees must be officially recognized by DOATAP.
  2. Proficiency in the English language, sufficient to allow the student to meet all academic requirements effectively, as judged by the selection committee (weight: 15%). The required minimum level is “good knowledge (B2).” If the applicant does not submit a recognized language certificate, he/she will be required to take a written exam, the date of which will be announced in the call for applications.
  3. Prior research activity and relevant professional experience (weight: 10%).
  4. Two letters of recommendation (weight: 10%).
  5. Personal interview (weight: 35%).
  6. Any other element relevant to the candidate’s qualifications, as evidenced by the submitted documentation (weight: 5%).
Foreign applicants must demonstrate sufficient knowledge of the Greek language, proven by one of the following: a) Completion of secondary education in Greece or in a Greek-speaking school abroad, b) A degree in Greek Language or Letters from a recognized foreign university, c) Completion of a full undergraduate program at a Greek university, or successful attendance of at least two (2) academic years in a Greek higher education institution, d) A certificate of Greek language proficiency from a state-recognized institution offering such certification to foreign nationals.
The evaluation process for candidates takes place in three phases:

  • Phase 1: After the application deadline, a three-member academic committee verifies all formal qualifications based on the submitted documents.
  • Phase 2: Applicants who pass the first phase are invited to a personal interview.
  • Phase 3: The Coordination Committee evaluates all applicants who completed the second phase and compiles a ranked list with detailed scores of successful candidates. Those accepted are informed by the Program Secretariat. Successful applicants must confirm their registration in the IPP within five (5) working days of notification. If an applicant declines, the first candidate on the waiting list is invited, and so on. In the case of a tie for the last position, all tied candidates are admitted.

By registering, candidates accept the program’s operational rules and corresponding obligations.
